Spray Tan Guide

Spray Tan Preparation

>>  Shower, shave, and exfoliate 48–24 hours prior to your appointment. NO DOVE! 2 days of exfoliation rather than 1 day. Use an oil-free exfoliator. NO DOVE. Concentrate on dry areas (elbows, knees, and feet)

>>  No showers 8 hours prior to the appointment. Showering and shaving too close to your spray tan appointment can negatively alter the way your skin processes the solution.

>>  For best results, hydrate your skin by moisturising throughout the week leading up to your appointment. Thoroughly remove all moisturisers 8 hours before your appointment.

>>  8 hours prior to the appointment, make sure your skin is free of all products. This includes lotions, deodorant, make-up, oils, jewellery and perfumes.

>>  Wear loose clothing and open-toed sandals before, after, and while the tan is developing. No leggings, jeans, or trainers. Tight clothing will cause the tan to rub off. Kimono is available for purchase on my “SHOP” page.

>>  Keep hydrated and drink plenty of water. Limit coffee and alcohol consumption.

>>  Do not use retinol products in the week leading up to your tan.

Spray Tan Appointment Day

>>  Make sure you have followed my prep and post-tan care instructions.

>>  Wear loose long dark clothing and open-toed sandals or slides to your appointment. Please note that the bronzer in the spray tan solution may transfer to your items, but it is water-soluble and will wash out. You will want to stay away from tight clothing, bras, shorts, tank tops, socks, and trainers after being sprayed so your tan can develop evenly.

>>  Make sure your skin is free of all products.

>>  When I arrive at your home, I will need to be near an electrical socket with sufficient lighting. I will need an area of 6 feet square for the tent and equipment. Ceiling height will also need to be considered.

>>  You can decide how little or more clothes you wear during the spray tan.

>>  I provide sticky feet, barrier cream, hair nets, and disposable T-strings.

>>  Fill in the consultation card.

Post Spray Tan

>>  Following your spray tan, avoid any water exposure. This includes sweating, swimming, and showering before your designated rinse time. Your recommended shower time will be provided at your appointment.

>>  Leave solution for the agreed-upon time.

>>  No touching the tan while the tan is developing. Aviod skin to skin contact. To avoid stained palms, avoid palm-to-skin contact while your tan is developing.

>>  Avoid applying make-up, oils, lotions, deodorants, and perfume while your tan is developing.

>>  If you have pets, do not let them lick you while your tan is developing.

>>  When it is time for the first shower, do not use soap or scrubs. Just a water rinse is recommended. Luke warm water only. If needed, you can lightly wash pits and privates, but keep the soap very minimal. The goal is to get in and out in a speedy fashion! If you see streaks after getting out of the shower, hop back in and use your hand to guide the leftover bronzer off. The more water exposure your skin has, the faster the spray tan will fade. Keep the water temperature lukewarm for that first shower.

>>  Rinse until the water runs clear.

>>  Always pat dry with a towel after showers when you've had a spray tan.

>>  No soap or scrubbing; just use your hands to buff out the bronzer.

>>  Use SPF. Spray tans do not provide UV protection.

Spray Tan Maintenance

Tips to making your tan last longer:

>>  Taking short showers and moisturising daily with a natural lotion will help lengthen the life of your tan. Stay away from lotions that have mineral oil and high amounts of fragrance, such as Dove, Bath & Body Works, and Victoria Secret. Those ingredients will melt your tan right off. Use products such as Hemp, Aveeno, Shea Moisture.

>>  Acknowledge that the following activities can strip your spray tan faster: chlorine, salt water, long hot showers or baths, saunas, and excessive sweating.

>>  Moisturise twice a day, if possible, with a spray-tan-approved lotion. This will help lengthen the life of the tan.
